Bugle 337 - Harrogate Evening Chess League

22 November 2020

There were some intriguing games in the 3rd round of the club's online tournament. Leon Wooldridge had reached a drawn endgame position by move 25 in his match against Adam Hall. With some "Arkellesque" manoeuvring, however, he managed to conjure up a win on move 88! Conversely, Mick Stokes fell into an opening trap set by Steve Wild and his game was effectively lost by move 6! Brian Coop's 100% record went with a defeat to Jeff Spratt. With players castling on opposite sides, Jeff's lead in development exposed Brian's King side weakness forcing the win of the exchange. These results leave Leon, Steve and Jeff tying for 1st place, each with 2 wins and a draw from their 3 games.

There are 6 outstanding matches still to be played. It is hoped that these are resolved before the next round.
